It was just after Christmas when the virus in China took hold,
And the world looked on in horror as the Italian numbers rose.
The bodies piled up in the hundreds, stacked in freezer trucks when the morgues overflowed,
And the message from the Government was “relax, we’ve go the borders closed.”
“It’s just a few random cases, there’s no need for panic or for alarm,
We’re not going to shut down the country, and I ain’t gonna wear no mask.”
So for thirty days the President did nothing, but dodge impeachment and hustle for votes,
And when the shit came down the cupboard was empty and it was the last administration’s fault.

Now America nothing can save you, not your Liberty or your freedom of speech.
You’ve got a lunatic loose in the White house, and you’ve got Jesus for a vaccine.

Trump prematurely claimed victory, then sent the blame down the line to the States,
“Be nice to me- you’ll get what you need”, dealing with a crisis by prescribing hate.
Meanwhile the death toll in New York was terrifying, more tragic than September eleven,
And worse still, it would have been avoided but for an attack of Presidential Terrorism.

Now America nothing can save you, not your right to bear or freedom of speech.
You’ve got a lunatic loose in the White house, and you’ve got Jesus for a vaccine.

I’m not saying down here we were faultless,
We did things of which we cannot be proud
Like the fighting over toilet paper,
And if you were EVER going to keep a boat out
But after the madness we pulled together,
And locked the whole thing down.

This year we’ve used phrases that once might’ve sounded absurd,
Like social distance and self isolation, PPE, and flatten the curve.
But all of this pales in comparison with that orange galoot’s misguided words,
“We’ll have the economy open by Easter, it’ll be a miracle so let’s pack out the Churches”
And who could forgive the complaining, the pontificating, posturing, and lies,
Who will ever forget the Pandemic that snuck up and caught him blindside.
When all this is over may the history books show,
That the biggest failure in US history came down to one man’s ego.


Now America nothing can save you from your ridiculous commander in chief,
You’ll be drinking bleach for breakfast, and you’ve got Jesus for a vaccine.
Whilst the rest of the world maintains distance, and keeps its damn hands clean,
You’ll be drinking bleach for breakfast, and you’ve got Jesus for a vaccine,
There’s a lunatic loose in the White House, but you’ve got Jesus for a vaccine.
